To most people, “summer” is synonymous with no school, fun in the sun and travel to interesting places.
However, for many students summer vacation can be a challenge, especially when it comes to getting proper nutrition. A daily lunch may not be available. That’s where government-funded “Summer Lunch” programs with partners like MidPointe Library enter the picture.
Once again MidPointe Library will host the long-running “Summer Lunch Program” that provides free, weekday lunches to babies and children of all ages. An afternoon snack has been added this year.
Lunches and snacks will be available at two sites:
MidPointe Library Middletown, 125 South Broad Street, Middletown
Dates: Monday through Friday, June 10-August 9
Time: Noon to 1 p.m.
Location: MidPointe Library's Douglas J. Bean Community Room
Snacks will be available in the Youth Department from 4 to 4:30 p.m.
The Edgewood Outreach Center, 405 Sycamore Road, Apartment 5, Trenton (new location).
Dates : Monday through Friday, June 3-August 9
Time: 1 to 2:30 p.m.
Snacks will be available from 4 to 5 p.m.
MidPointe’s Trenton branch will serve as host.
The dates for the Summer Lunch Program coincide with those of MidPointe’s popular Summer Reading Program for all ages. Lunch-goers are welcome to attend the free program in which participants read books for prizes and enjoy special guests. Summer Reading will take place June 1 through July 31 at all MidPointe locations.
