Middletown High School brought awareness with a Unity Day Walk. We thank the Middletown Police Department for escorting the students and staff as they scaled the perimeters of the school. Afterwards, MHS walk participants gathered on the field.
Middletown City School District stands with others across the country in the prevention of bullying by spreading awareness throughout the district. All schools participated in Unity Day, a day that celebrates the inclusion of all students through kindness and acceptance, by wearing orange and hosting special activities for their building.
Wildwood teacher, Anedra Million, spoke at Middletown City's School's October 2 regional event, IGNITE 3.0, about the effects of bullying and how to prevent it.
"No one deserves to be bullied. Being bullied can leave scars. Physical scars, emotional scars, mental scars. As a community, I believe it is our responsibility to protect our youth from any abuse. This month is more than just preventing acts of bullying, it is about creating an environment of inclusion for all people," said Million.
Million advocates for those who may have been a victim of bullying and she encourages those who witness acts of bullying to speak out against it.
