In the past week, schools around Ohio - and across the country - have been hit by acts of vandalism that appear to be inspired by a trend on the social media app TikTok. This trend encourages people to steal or damage school property. Our high school alone has had many such incidents, including restroom vandalism and threats of violence towards our students and staff.

We know the majority of our students learn best when they are in a classroom setting and we are determined to keep our buildings fully open for them. Due to the strong recommendations by our medical professionals, the Middletown Board of Education determined it is in the best interest of our students and staff that all Middletown City Schools require facial coverings inside our buildings for all K-12 students, staff, and visitors.
