Middletown City School District Monday announced Misty Belfrom, current assistant principal at Sycamore Junior High School, as the new Highview 6th Grade Center principal. The Middletown Board of Education (BOE) approved Belfrom’s hire at Monday’s BOE meeting.

“I am happy to introduce Misty Belfrom as our new Highview 6th Grade Center principal. Her knowledge of the developmental needs of sixth graders, her extensive background in special education, and the obvious passion for learning were the key qualities highlighted during the interview process,” said Deborah Houser, HR Director at MCSD.

Since 2015, Belfrom has worked at Sycamore Community School District as an intervention specialist, special education building supervisor, and most recently as the assistant principal at Sycamore Junior High School.

“It is a privilege to be named the principal of Highview 6th Grade Center.  I am excited about the opportunity to serve the students, staff, and community of Middletown. Together we can continue to create an environment that is focused on growing students academically, socially, and emotionally,” said Belfrom.

As the new Highview 6th Grade Center principal, Belfrom looks forward to building a strong team atmosphere with the staff and collaborating with parents and students to improve student achievement. This should prove simple for Belfrom as she has experience in both general education and special education, plus her interests include instructional support, student achievement, and positive behavior support.

Belfrom earned her Bachelor of Art in psychology (minor in business management) from Wittenberg University, her Master of Education in Special Education from University of Cincinnati, and her Principal Certification from Indiana Wesleyan University.
